This is Jen’s seventh year as a PSED staff member. She has worked in our second grade room, our kindergarten room and currently is our K-2 and enrichment coordinator. Jen is a graduate of Wheelock College where she majored in Elementary Education and History. She also holds a Masters in Elementary Education from UMass Boston. Jen has been a preschool teacher and a nanny prior to coming to work with us at PSED. Jen loves all kinds of sports and also enjoys traveling, dancing and working out. She truly loves working with young children and learning new things to share with them. 


John McLaughlin

1/2 Lead Teacher

Sharks Teacher

This is John’s 8th year with PSED, and he is our 1/2 Lead Teacher. Over the past 6 years he has worked with both the Sharks and Dolphins. John received his bachelor’s degree in the study of psychology from UMass Lowell. John has worked in education with PSED and other organizations for more than 10 years. Outside of work, John loves writing, playing, and recording music.



Rebecca Loechler


Rebecca is one of several Brookline native who is a part of our team. She went to the Edward Devotion school and Brookline High School. Rebecca was a teaching aid with us last year, and we are very happy to have her back. In her free time, Rebecca is a is a hard-working independent, self-taught artist who loves to draw. In fact, she just finished creating her own coloring book which will soon be available for sale! She loves to adventure and has been to almost every National Park in the country. She is really excited to lead some awesome creative projects this year here at PSED.



Eliza Myers
Dolphins Teacher

Eliza is back for her second year at PSED. She is a Brookline native who attended Heath School and Brookline High. Eliza attended Sarah Lawrence College in New York where she studied Journalism and French Literature. She loves to read (the heavier the book the better!) and work on arts and crafts projects. When she is not at PSED, Eliza is studying to become a nurse, so naturally she loves all things science. She is looking forwards to sharing her knowledge with the Dolphins and Sharks! 

Emanuel Lorenzo
Dolphins Teacher

As a second year returning staff member, Emanuel Lorenzo, is excited for what this year of PSED has to offer. Last year, Emanuel worked with the 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders. This year he will get the chance to work with kids a little bit younger as a part of the 1st and 2nd grade team. Emanuel grew up in Roxbury, Massachusetts but went to school in Brookline for most of his education through High-school, as a graduate of Heath and Brookline High. Before working at Pierce, Emanuel worked at the James W. Hennigan with 5-12 year olds as an after-school teacher and summer camp counselor.  He is currently a criminal Justice major at MassBay community college looking to continue his studies at a four year university in the near future. In his free time, Emanuel enjoys playing basketball, listening to music, and spending time with friends and family.  Emanuel can't wait to get to know and play with all of the Dolphins this year!

Kelly Farrell
Sharks Teacher

Kelly was born in Newton and grew up in Southborough, a small town west of Boston. She attended Elon University in North Carolina and received a degree in Marketing and Accounting. Kelly spent the last 5 years working in Marketing, but recently decided she wanted to pursue a career in elementary education because she loves working with kids! This spring, Kelly volunteered with first and second graders at an elementary school in Somerville and spent the summer working with kids with severe disabilities. Kelly loves running, yoga, bike riding, reading, baking, spending time with family and friends, and being outdoors!  

Erin Grogan
Starfish Teacher

Erin was born in Springfield, Massachusetts and grew up in a very small town called Washington in Western Massachusetts. She went to the University of Massachusetts Amherst and studied Kinesiology. Erin has been babysitting since the age of 16, substituted in Western Massachusetts, and served as counselor at Running Brook Day Camp for 2 years.  Erin love sports! She is a big fan of the Patriots and loves to watch the games with my family and friends. During my free time Erin enjoy being active which includes activities like roller blading or hiking.

Abby Teixeira
Dolphins Teacher

Abby was born and raised in here Boston. She attended Clark University and majored in biology with a concentration in public health and minored in studio art. Abby has worked with children before as a camp counselor at the Vietnamese Community Center in Dorchester. Art is Abby’s main interest. In particular she enjoys painting in her free time. Abby is most looking forward to teaching new skills and forming bonds with PSED students by sharing her love of art.

Dolphins Teacher

Welcome Ale to our team! Ale was born in La Paz, Bolivia. She moved to Brookline at the age of 4 and grew up here. Currently, Ale is enrolled at Lesley University to study early childhood education. Ale has worked with Devotion School’s enrichment program as a coordinator and also teacher. In Ale’s time she enjoys going to museums, taking photos, and exploring different nature spots around the city.The thing Ale is doing the most, however, is hanging out with friends, family and her dog Darwin. Ale is looking forward to so much this year at PSED! She is super excited to learn about each student, where the come from, and what they like to do. She is also excited to work with new staff and get to know Pierce!



PSED will begin for grades 1-5 on Thursday September 6th. PSED K will begin on Tuesday September 11th.
